Winona Lake Sunset Pickleball Tournament Returns for Second Year
The Winona Lake Sunset Pickleball Tournament is back for its second year, and it’s shaping up to be even bigger and better than before. With 270 players signed up, this year’s event has already surpassed last year’s numbers, which saw 175 participants.
Organized by Dave Thieme, the tournament will take place from September 6th to the 8th at Winona Lake Park. All net proceeds from the event will go towards the World Compassion Network, a local disaster relief/missions organization.
What sets this tournament apart is its inclusivity. Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate, from 10-year-old kids to teams in their 70s. There will be different brackets for seniors, mixed age groups, and men’s and women’s doubles, ensuring that everyone has a chance to compete.
In addition to the pickleball action, there will be food trucks, music, and raffles throughout the weekend. The event will also showcase the beauty of Winona Lake to visitors from near and far, with participants coming from Indianapolis, Michigan, and beyond.
Thieme is confident that the tournament will continue to grow in the coming years, thanks to the support of the community and sponsors. He encourages anyone who is curious about pickleball to come out and watch some incredible matches, and enjoy a fun-filled weekend with the whole family.
With the success of last year’s event and the excitement building for this year’s tournament, the Winona Lake Sunset Pickleball Tournament is well on its way to becoming a beloved annual tradition in the area.
