Pickleball players in Vietnam have been splurging on the latest apparel, accessories, and gear, leading to a surge in online stores selling pickleball gear on platforms like Shopee, Lazada, and Tiki. The majority of pickleball gear and accessories sell for affordable prices, making the sport accessible to a wide range of players.
The growing popularity of pickleball is also evident in rising foot traffic at stores selling pickleball gear in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Pickleball stores in Ho Chi Minh City have seen a notable increase in daily footfall, with products selling out quickly despite constant restocking.
Pham Nghia, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, has invested quite a bit in pickleball gear for himself and his children, highlighting the sport’s appeal to families. Despite the costs for gear and coaching, Nghia believes pickleball is a sport for everyone at any age.
Economic expert Nguyen Van Nam is confident that pickleball will continue to grow in popularity in Vietnam due to its health benefits and minimal equipment costs, especially during current economic challenges. Invented in the U.S. in 1965, pickleball has become one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with its popularity soaring in Vietnam over the past two years.
