Palm Springs Hospitality Association Hosts Inaugural Pickleball Tournament for Charity and Fun

The Palm Springs Hospitality Association (PSHA) made a bold move this year by swapping out their annual golf tournament for an inaugural pickleball tournament at Demuth Park in Palm Springs. The event, held on Nov. 16, was a day filled with competition, charity, and even some celebrity match highlights.

The tournament aimed to benefit the PSHA Scholarship Fund and the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs (BGCPS), with all proceeds going towards supporting local youth, students, and community programs. One of the most exciting moments of the day was the celebrity pickleball match between Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills and Kim Jagd, star player for the Coachella Valley Scorpions. The high-energy match drew attention from the local community and added an extra level of excitement to the event.

“We’re proud to host this tournament and thrilled to have such incredible participants,” said Celeste Brackley, PSHA president and general manager of The Saguaro Hotel. “This is a unique opportunity for the community to come together for a day of sport and give back to two fantastic local causes.”

The event also featured the PSHA Power Hour, showcasing matchups between PSHA members, local leaders, and even the Palm Springs Police and Fire Departments. Sponsorship opportunities were available for local businesses at various levels, contributing to the event’s goal of raising funds for the PSHA Scholarship Fund and Boys & Girls Club programs.

With sponsors like Hilton Palm Springs, Visit Greater Palm Springs, and many others, the tournament was able to raise significant funds for the chosen causes. Refreshments were provided by local businesses, raffle tickets were sold for gift baskets, and the community came out to support and cheer on the players and celebrities.

Overall, the inaugural pickleball tournament was a huge success, bringing the community together for a day of fun, philanthropy, and friendly competition. The event showcased the generosity and support of the Palm Springs community towards important local causes.
