Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson Claim Top Seeds at PPA Event

The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) tour made a triumphant return to action at the 4th annual Orange County Cup in San Clemente, California. The event, sponsored by Select Medical, saw some of the top players in the sport battle it out for top honors.

In the Men’s Pro Singles division, Christopher Haworth staged an impressive comeback to take down #1 seed Federico Staksrud and claim the title. The draw featured a record-breaking 153 players, with Haworth emerging victorious after a grueling series of matches.

On the Women’s side, Anna Leigh Waters continued her dominance by capturing the Women’s Pro Singles title, adding to her impressive list of accomplishments in the sport.

In the Mixed Pro Doubles category, Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters faced a tough challenge in the semifinals but managed to come out on top to secure yet another title together.

The Men’s Pro Doubles final saw Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson emerge victorious, solidifying their status as the new #1 seeds in the next PPA event. This marks a significant shift in the rankings, with Frazier surpassing Ben Johns to claim the top spot.

In the Women’s Pro Doubles division, Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau continued their winning ways, capturing their 19th title together.

Overall, the Orange County Cup provided fans and players with an exciting weekend of pickleball action, with major upsets and thrilling matches throughout the tournament. The PPA tour will now take a break for the month of July before returning in August for the next event in Kansas City.
