“Pickleball’s Popularity Soars in Bradford: Town’s Efforts to Address Court Availability”

The sport of pickleball is taking Bradford by storm, with players of all ages flocking to the town’s indoor and outdoor facilities to get in on the action. According to Clarence Sturge, a long-time player, pickleball could be the fastest growing sport in North America, and it’s easy to see why.

Players like Bill Peel, who comes from Schomberg to play in Bradford, enjoy the social aspect of the game and the opportunity to stay active. Even newcomers like Bill Connery and Allan Roitner have noticed the explosive growth of pickleball in the town, with more and more players joining in on the fun.

However, with this growth comes the challenge of meeting the demand for court time. While the town is working on adding more courts to accommodate the influx of players, there are still limitations on indoor court availability. Community services director Terry Foran explained that pickleball currently has the most hours of court availability compared to other sports, but there are still constraints on how much time can be allocated for the game.

Despite these challenges, players remain dedicated to the sport and are eager to see it continue to thrive in Bradford. With plans for new courts in the works and a strategic plan for future developments, pickleball enthusiasts can look forward to even more opportunities to play in the town.
