Jonathan MacLeod and Nathan Barber-Smith Win Competitive Division Championship in Greater Greenfield Pickleball Tournament
The Greater Greenfield Pickleball Tournament at Greenfield High School on Sunday was a huge success, with Jonathan MacLeod and Nathan Barber-Smith emerging as the champions in the Competitive Division. The tournament, organized by the Greenfield Pickleball Community, raised $3,000 towards the construction of six new pickleball courts at Abercrombie Field.
In the Competitive Doubles division, MacLeod and Barber-Smith defeated Paul Croutwurst and Colin Hamill to claim the title, with James Fortin and Roger Schmidt finishing in third place. Jennifer Coffin and Ellen Abraham took home the Women’s Doubles Division title, while Mike Brezsnyak and Gary Fielder won the Men’s Doubles Division.
The Mixed Doubles Division was won by Croutwurst and Coffin, with MacLeod and Maggie Barrier coming in second. The tournament showcased some intense competition and great sportsmanship among all the participants.
In other sports news, the Greenfield Touch Football League semifinals saw Gill CC Woodworking and the Titans emerge victorious, setting up an exciting final match next Sunday. Gill CC Woodworking defeated Sirum 6-0, while the Titans beat J&J Athletics 12-6 in the semifinals.
Additionally, in youth hockey action, FCHA 10U secured a 4-3 victory over Westfield, with Samuel Edson leading the way with two goals and an assist. The tournament was a great showcase of talent and teamwork, highlighting the passion for sports in the Greenfield community.
