Local Owners and Staff Preserve History and Revitalize Fort Monmouth’s Fort Athletic Club
The Fort Monmouth community is buzzing with excitement as the owners and staff of the Fort Athletic Club (FAC) are dedicated to preserving the history of the former U.S. Army base while also revitalizing the area. Led by principal owner Scott Marchakitus, a Fair Haven resident, the FAC is a renovated former military gymnasium that has been transformed into a state-of-the-art fitness center.
After an extensive renovation process that spanned four years and cost millions of dollars, the FAC opened its doors in October 2021. The 50,000-square-foot facility on 7.2 acres offers a variety of fitness options for members, including boutique studios, courts for open play and coached pickleball, and basketball courts for youth and adult leagues. Additionally, a smoothie and coffee bar, as well as childcare services, are available for members.
The FAC’s focus on community extends beyond fitness, as they have partnered with local charitable organizations and businesses to give back to the community. They also offer a variety of youth programs and events, including a summer basketball league run by local high school coaches.
With a team of experienced trainers and directors, the FAC is committed to helping members achieve their fitness goals and create a sense of community within the club. From yoga and cycling to high-intensity military-inspired workouts, there is something for everyone at the FAC.
As the club continues to grow and expand its offerings, they are also looking towards the future with plans for a 4th Annual Feastmode Fall Basketball Event and potential collaboration with Netflix on a production studio adjacent to the club. With a mission to be the best family fitness center in Monmouth County, the Fort Athletic Club is poised to become a staple in the community for years to come.
