Major League Pickleball Launches Minor League Events with Inaugural Event in Virginia Beach, September 28-29
The inaugural Minor League Pickleball event at MLP Virginia Beach is set to take place on September 28-29, 2024. This exciting partnership between MLP by Margaritaville and DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) will bring amateur players the opportunity to experience the thrill of Major League Pickleball’s coed team format.
MLP CEO Bruce Popko expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “We can’t think of a better way to bring Major League Pickleball’s thrilling coed team format to amateur players.” DUPR CEO Tito Machado also shared his enthusiasm, highlighting the opportunity for amateur players to compete like pros and advance towards a national championship.
The event will feature a coed team format where mixed teams of four players (two women and two men) will compete in divisions based on their combined DUPR rating. Winners of the event will earn a Dream Ticket and qualify for the 2024 Minor League Pickleball National Championship, which will offer $50,000 in prize money across six divisions.
Amateur players can register for the event through Pickleball Brackets. Additional events under the MiLP at MLP branding will take place in Miami, FL on October 26-27 and in Orlando, FL on November 23-24.
