Extended Closure of Dare County Youth Center Gymnasium due to Ongoing Roof Replacement Project
The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department’s Northern Beach Division has announced that the Dare County Youth Center gymnasium at Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills will remain closed on its originally scheduled reopening date of Monday, November 18, 2024, due to a minor delay in the ongoing roof replacement project.
The gymnasium was initially closed for a three-week period beginning on Monday, October 28, 2024, and was previously expected to reopen on Monday, November 18, 2024. However, the gymnasium will remain closed as the contractor works to complete the project. All gymnasium activities, including volleyball and pickleball, will be canceled throughout this week and on Monday, November 18, 2024.
The after-school program will be held in the multipurpose rooms at the Dare County Youth Center until the roof replacement is complete, and any meetings scheduled in the multipurpose rooms will proceed as planned. Although the gymnasium is currently expected to reopen on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, further closures may be necessary to complete the project.
The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as work on this important facility upgrade continues.
