Youngs Creek Park Pickleball Courts Get New Lights Thanks to Youth Leadership Council

The pickleball courts at Youngs Creek Park in Franklin have been equipped with new lights, a project led by the Franklin Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council, composed of local high school students. Initiated last year, the council collaborated with city officials and departments to plan and approve the installation, raising about $150,000 primarily through donations and a community pickleball tournament. Local businesses, including Huston Electric and Pink Lady Contracting, contributed materials, labor, and services, while city departments also supported the effort.

The lighting project was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where community members and children from the local recreation camp enjoyed playing under the new lights. City leaders and business owners emphasized the importance of enhancing community spaces for recreation and socializing. With the new lights, the pickleball courts are expected to become a popular destination for players of all ages, extending playtime into the evening and strengthening community engagement.
