Young Violinist Emel Cubukcu Wins Awards and Performs with College Symphony Orchestra

Emel Cubukcu, a young violinist from La Jolla, has rapidly gained recognition for her musical talent, winning first place in the Music Teachers’ Association of California San Diego Concerto Competition and the H.B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition. She recently performed a challenging Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra, describing the experience as “once-in-a-lifetime” and demonstrating remarkable confidence despite the large audience. Emel practices about two hours daily, balancing school orchestra leadership roles and private lessons, while also volunteering to play music for children in special-education schools.

Supported by her mother’s dedication, Emel’s passion for violin began at age five and continues to grow as she envisions music as a lifelong pursuit. Beyond her musical achievements, she enjoys traveling, socializing, playing pickleball, and spending time with her cats, embracing a well-rounded life enriched by her love of music.
