Professional pickleball players have established the World Pickleball Players Association (WPPA), the first formal players’ body aimed at advocating for transparency in health, safety, and compensation. Backed by United Pickleball Association (UPA)-signed players, the WPPA is led by a seven-member board including president Tina Pisnik. The association seeks to unify players and elevate the sport through collaboration and professionalism, emphasizing fair treatment for all athletes regardless of ranking.
However, the UPA does not recognize the WPPA as an official players’ representative group, maintaining that its existing Pro Player Committee—led by newly appointed president Zane Navratil—is the sole authorized voice for professional players. The UPA stresses that the committee handles key governance issues and represents over 155 contracted athletes, thereby rejecting the WPPA’s authority despite its formation amid growing competitiveness in the sport.
