Exciting Opportunities for Youth Athletes in Dixon

With the New Year in full swing, Dixon Girls Softball is gearing up for another exciting season. The nonprofit youth sports organization is dedicated to teaching softball fundamentals and life skills through sportsmanship, leadership, positive coaching, and peer-to-parent communication. Regular registration has ended, but late registration is available until Jan. 15 for $250.

Established in 2006, Solo Rugby Club is also offering opportunities for youth in Solano and Yolo counties. With a focus on developing players with strong character, the organization holds free rugby camps for boys and girls in third to 12th grade. More camps and regular practices are in the works, providing a great way for young athletes to get involved in a new sport.

For those looking to stay active during the winter months, Winter Indoor Pickleball is available every Saturday from Jan. 4 to March 1 at John Knight Middle School. Open to all ages, participants can play on any of the open courts for $5 at the door. Children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.

With basketball, wrestling, soccer, and dance in full swing at the school level, these unique opportunities provide a chance for students to try something new and potentially discover a new passion.
