Local Golf Tournaments and Pickleball Tournament Postponed Due to Hurricanes

The recent onslaught of hurricanes in the area has caused a ripple effect on the local sports scene, leading to the postponement of not one, but two popular golf tournaments and a brand new pickleball tournament.

The Westchase Freebooters Inaugural Charity Pickleball Tournament, originally set for October 19, has been rescheduled to Saturday, December 7. The event promises a day filled with pickleball, delicious food, and refreshing drinks, all in support of St. Francis Society Animal Rescue. Those interested in participating can find more information and register at tinyurl.com/WestchaseFreebooters.

Similarly, the Jacob’s Touch Charity Golf Tournament, initially planned for September 28, will now take place on Saturday, December 21 at the Westchase Golf Club. The tournament aims to raise funds for Jacob’s Touch Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families and organizations supporting autistic and neurodiverse individuals. Lastly, the Hillsborough Helping Kids Annual Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for November 1, has been pushed back to March 28, 2025. The decision to postpone was made by organizers Mark and PJ Broussard of Harbor Links, who cited the widespread impact of the hurricanes on their sponsors, volunteers, and participants. The tournament, hosted by Global 504, supports various youth programs and relief efforts. Those interested in participating or learning more about the organization can visit hillshelpskids.com or call 504-366-8618.

Despite the setbacks caused by the hurricanes, the community remains resilient and committed to supporting these important charitable events.
