Opportunity to Shape the Future of West Shore Parks & Recreation Facilities in Greater Victoria

Residents in the west shore region of Greater Victoria have a unique opportunity to have a say in the future plans for the West Shore Parks and Recreation (WSPR) facilities. The WSPR, located in Colwood, is jointly owned and operated by five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, View Royal, Metchosin, and Highlands.

As the population in the area continues to grow and evolve, so do the recreational needs of the community. The WSPR facilities offer a wide range of activities for people of all ages, including sports teams who utilize amenities such as the ice rink arena, lacrosse stadium, golf course, pickleball courts, and swimming pool.

To ensure that the future plans for the WSPR facilities align with the needs of the community, the organization is seeking public input through their Facilities Master Plan. Residents and community groups in the five municipalities are encouraged to participate in surveys, workshops, engagement sessions, and written submissions to help shape the future of the WSPR facilities.

Opportunities for input include online surveys for residents and community groups, digital workshops, and staffed engagement stations in various locations throughout the region. Written comments and questions can also be submitted via email.

The deadline for providing input is March 17, 2025, so residents are encouraged to participate and have their voices heard. By actively engaging in the planning process, community members can help ensure that the WSPR facilities continue to meet the needs of the growing and diverse population in the west shore region of Greater Victoria.
