West Shore Parks and Recreation Officially Opens New Outdoor Pickleball Courts

On June 13, 2025, West Shore Parks and Recreation (WSPR) officially opened four new outdoor pickleball courts in Colwood, BC, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local mayors, councillors, and WSPR officials. The courts, designed with community input and constructed with durable materials, respond to the growing popularity of pickleball and aim to enhance recreational opportunities for residents across the five municipalities served by WSPR: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, View Royal, and Highlands. The facility offers both reservation-based and drop-in play, with courts open daily from morning to dusk.

The event highlighted WSPR’s commitment to accessible, diverse recreation, with plans to host the first annual “Paddle Royale” Pickleball Tournament on July 5, targeting beginner to intermediate players. The project reflects careful planning, fiscal responsibility, and community benefit, with ongoing support from local government and partnerships such as the Greater Victoria Pickleball Association. WSPR continues to promote active lifestyles through quality facilities and programming, including indoor courts and other recreational amenities nearby.
