Wellington Resident Angee Lohmann Takes on 20th Consecutive Goofy Challenge at Disney Marathon Weekend

For the past 19 years, Angee Lohmann, a longtime resident of Wellington, has been a familiar face at the Disney Marathon weekend in Orlando. Every year since 2003, Lohmann has taken on the challenge of completing the Goofy’s Race and A Half Challenge, which requires runners to complete a half-marathon and a full marathon on consecutive days.

This year marks Lohmann’s 20th consecutive year participating in the Goofy Challenge, and she is determined to complete the 39.3 miles over the two days. Despite a recent pickleball knee injury, Lohmann is confident that she will be able to cross the finish line in both races, even if it means mostly walking this year.

What makes this year’s challenge even more special is that Lohmann will have her daughters by her side. Her 19-year-old daughter Hana will be running the half-marathon with her, while her oldest daughter Brianna will be running her first-ever marathon alongside her mother.

For Lohmann, running has been a passion that started back in 2002 at the Nashville Country Music Marathon and has taken her to the prestigious Boston Marathon three times. With a runner’s dinner of pasta and veggies planned for both nights before the races, Lohmann is ready to take on the challenge once again.

As the first wave of runners start at 5 a.m. on both days of the races, Lohmann will be focused on completing the challenge and earning the right to be called “Goofy” for the 20th time.
