Watertown Parks and Recreation Board Reviews Summer Projects and Upcoming City Facility Improvements

Posted In:

The Watertown Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Board recently met to review progress on several key projects, including the heavily used new pickleball courts, the nearly completed Pelican View Park playground, and ongoing renovations at Nelson Park courts. The Eastwoods Trail restoration is finished and well-received, while a hazardous trail section in Memorial Park is under review. Upcoming projects include the River Ridge development, roof repairs at the Wellness Center, HVAC upgrades at the zoo’s Discovery Center, and the start of a major wolf habitat project.

Additionally, the city is conducting a comprehensive facilities assessment to evaluate major buildings and their mechanical systems, aiming to guide long-term capital improvements. Plans are also in motion to improve safety and accessibility by relocating aquatic center chemical storage closer to the pool. These initiatives reflect a busy summer focused on enhancing Watertown’s recreational infrastructure and city facilities.
