Wake Island Waterpark in Placer County has launched the first floating pickleball court in the United States, offering a novel way to play the rapidly growing sport on a water-based, moving surface that feels like a water bed. This unique court uses standard pickleball equipment but adds a new challenge and fun element due to its gentle movement, which also makes diving for the ball less painful. Guests can rent the court for nearly two hours, with admission for up to eight people to the park’s AQUA Adventures, including access to inflatables, the beach, a private cabana, and sofa.
The rental package includes aqua socks and requires lifejackets for water safety, with recommendations for appropriate footwear. Optional add-ons like a Pickleball Party Pack and extra balls are available, though players are encouraged to bring their own paddles and balls. This innovative floating court not only enhances the pickleball experience but also provides great value by including full-day waterpark access, potentially attracting pickleball enthusiasts nationwide and inspiring similar concepts at other parks as the sport’s popularity continues to rise.
