Victoria Pickleball Centre Grows Rapidly, Fostering Next Generation and Producing National Athletes

Posted In:

Since opening in April 2024, the Victoria Pickleball Centre in Langford has rapidly become one of Canada’s busiest pickleball hubs, attracting over 1,700 active members and hosting daily leagues, lessons, and tournaments. This growth reflects the nationwide surge in pickleball participation, which increased by 57% to 1.54 million players in 2025. The centre emphasizes inclusivity and development at all levels, particularly through its youth initiative, Pickle Pals, which offers age-specific programs to build physical literacy, skills, and sportsmanship among young players.

Beyond community engagement, the centre has also fostered high-level talent, exemplified by Isabelle Tang, a professional player who trains there and competes nationally with notable success. Brenda Dean, the centre’s director, highlights the importance of introducing diverse physical activities early to nurture confidence and connection to the sport, aiming to grow pickleball’s presence and impact across generations in the region.
