However, rising summer temperatures and the associated health risks—such as dehydration, heat stroke, and increased heat-related deaths—highlight the critical need for effective shade solutions to ensure player safety and comfort during outdoor play.
To address these challenges, the industry is shifting toward incorporating durable, professionally engineered shade structures into pickleball facilities. These structures not only reduce surface temperatures by up to 20 degrees but also enhance court longevity and usability by protecting surfaces from sun damage. Successful shade installations require careful planning regarding court orientation, design aesthetics, and compliance with local regulations. Although initial costs vary, investing in shade is essential for extending playtime, improving player retention, and safeguarding health, making it a fundamental component of modern pickleball court design.
