Pickleball Thanksgiving: A Multigenerational Tournament in Manhattan Beach
The Fourth Annual Manhattan Beach Turkey Tournament brought together players of all ages and backgrounds for a weekend of intense pickleball competition. From 8-year-olds to 77-year-olds, the tournament showcased the growing popularity of the sport that was once dismissed as a passing fad.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the tournament was the presence of a grandmother-granddaughter team, showing that pickleball truly is a sport for all generations. Sibling teams, father-son teams, and mother-son teams also added to the diverse mix of players who participated in the event.
With over 300 players taking part in the tournament, it was clear that pickleball has firmly established itself as a beloved pastime for many Americans. The sport’s accessibility and fun factor were on full display, as players of all skill levels were able to pick up a paddle and enjoy the fast-paced action on the court.
The success of the Turkey Tournament is a testament to the enduring appeal of pickleball and its ability to bring people together in a spirit of friendly competition. Congratulations to the MB Parks and Rec Department for organizing such a successful event, and to all the players who participated and made it a memorable weekend of pickleball action.
