Plans approved for £2.5 million base for Europe’s biggest indoor pickleball and padel club in Farnham, Surrey
Plans for a £2.5 million base for some of the world’s fastest-growing sports have been approved for the Surrey town of Farnham. The Hub of Pickleball and Padel, also known as THE HOPP, is set to become Europe’s biggest indoor pickleball and padel club after receiving planning permission from Waverley Borough Council.
Located on the Farnham Trading Estate, THE HOPP will feature 10 indoor pickleball courts, four padel courts, a mezzanine bar with a 360-degree view of all indoor courts, a main bar, and a lounge area. The facility will also offer studios for classes such as pilates and yoga, private rooms for hire, and remote working spaces.
Pickleball and padel are described as sporting phenomena that are rapidly gaining popularity worldwide. Sally Grave and Andre Strachan, the business partners behind THE HOPP, are passionate about these sports and are excited to bring them to the Farnham community.
Sally and Andre, who recently won the Skechers Pickleball English Open mixed doubles gold medal, are thrilled to see their vision come to life. They believe that THE HOPP will provide a fun and accessible sporting experience for people of all ages and abilities.
With planning permission secured, the pair is now focused on transforming a vacant warehouse into a state-of-the-art sports center. THE HOPP is expected to create at least 25 jobs and will offer ample parking and bicycle spaces for visitors.
The opening of THE HOPP in mid-2025 is eagerly anticipated by pickleball and padel enthusiasts in Farnham and beyond. The facility’s ‘PLAY TODAY PLAY FOREVER’ ethos reflects its commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for the community to enjoy these exciting sports.
