Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the United States, has taken North Carolina by storm. With a 223.5% increase in participation over the last three years, the state has seen a surge in pickleball enthusiasts hitting the courts.

A recent study conducted by Action Network delved into the pickleball obsession across the country, analyzing factors such as the number of pickleball venues, online searches for pickleball-related terms, and Google Trends data for pickleball popularity. North Carolina landed at the No. 11 spot on the list, scoring 3.26 out of 10 on the pickleball obsession index.

The study revealed that North Carolina boasts 462 pickleball venues, with residents searching for pickleball 1.71 million times in the past year. Google Trends also scored North Carolina’s interest in pickleball at 43 out of 100.

Vermont claimed the top spot in the rankings, with Utah, Hawaii, Maine, and Minnesota following closely behind. Despite not making it to the top of the list, North Carolina’s pickleball scene continues to thrive, showcasing the state’s growing enthusiasm for the sport.

As pickleball continues to gain popularity nationwide, North Carolina remains a key player in the pickleball craze, with players of all ages and skill levels flocking to the courts to enjoy this exciting and fast-paced sport.
