St. Joseph City Council approved several key projects including a new $796,000 pickleball complex at Corby Grove, featuring eight regulation courts, enhanced lighting, seating, and improved connectivity, funded by parks tax and CIP funds. The city also received a $225,000 contribution from Friends of the Animal Shelter toward the ongoing construction of a new $5 million, 13,000-square-foot animal shelter expected to open in mid-2026. Additionally, nearly $1 million was allocated for technology infrastructure upgrades to modernize city services, and $336,814 was approved for new seating at the historic Phil Welch Stadium.

Long-term financial planning for the landfill’s eventual closure in 2047 was addressed with a $19.8 million commitment for closure and post-closure environmental obligations. Other approved items included contracts for the Hyde Park maintenance building and a grant application for a modular training simulator at Rosecrans Air National Guard base, reflecting the city’s ongoing investment in community facilities, technology, and environmental responsibilities.
