Introducing SportSpot: A Temporary Recreation Zone Under the Olgiati Bridge

Chattanooga’s Riverfront Parks are set to become even more vibrant and engaging with the introduction of SportSpot, a temporary recreation zone under the Olgiati Bridge. The initiative, part of the Evolving Our Riverfront Parks plan, aims to create a space where residents can play and be active year-round.

Starting on September 6, SportSpot will offer free pickleball and basketball courts, a roller skating rink, and a pump track for visitors to enjoy. A colorful mural and plants will enhance the experience, creating a welcoming environment for all.

Emily Mack, President & CEO of River City Company, expressed excitement about bringing life to the riverfront parks on a daily basis. The community’s feedback will be crucial in shaping the future design of the space, with opportunities for residents to share their thoughts and ideas.

SportSpot will be open daily from 9am until sunset on September 6-21 and October 4-20, with additional events hosted by various organizations. Pickleball paddles, balls, and skates will be provided for free during special events, encouraging everyone to participate.

Gail Loveland Barille, Director of Outdoor Chattanooga, highlighted the importance of initiatives like SportSpot in promoting active lifestyles and fostering community bonds. By providing accessible and engaging spaces, the project aims to transform the riverfront into a vibrant hub for all to enjoy.

Residents can find the full schedule of events at www.rivercitycompany.com/sportspot and learn more about the Evolving Our Riverfront Parks plan at www.riverfrontparkscha.com. SportSpot is presented in partnership with the City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors, Outdoor Chattanooga, and sponsored by the Lyndhurst Foundation, Benwood Foundation, and The Barn Nursery.
