Residents in South Burlington Push for Removal of Noisy Pickleball Courts at Szymanski Park
Residents in South Burlington, Vermont, are up in arms over the noise coming from the pickleball courts at Szymanski Park. The constant sound of paddles hitting plastic balls from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. has some neighbors calling for the city to relocate the courts.
Jovana Guarino, a longtime resident in the area, expressed her frustration with the noise levels, stating that it is unbearable even from 100 feet away. She believes that the addition of pickleball courts to the park a couple of years ago has disrupted the peace and quiet that the park once offered.
The issue was brought up at a recent City Council meeting, where both supporters and opponents of the pickleball courts voiced their concerns. Council Chair Tim Barritt acknowledged the complaints and mentioned that the city is exploring various options to address the situation.

While some suggest using alternate locations for pickleball games, Guarino and other residents are adamant about completely removing the courts from the area. She has even started a petition with support from neighbors who share her sentiments.
