2024 APP Vlasic Classic – Cincinnati Recap: First-Time Winners Shine in Pro Pickleball Event

The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) recently held its 2024 APP Vlasic Classic – Cincinnati event at the Sawyer Point courts in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event, which was the second in Vlasic Pickle company’s partnership with the APP, featured nearly 1,000 registrants competing in various categories.

The competition saw some surprising outcomes, with three first-time winners and four first-time medalists emerging victorious. In the Men’s Pro Singles category, Grayson Goldin claimed his first APP gold medal by defeating top seed Jack Foster in a thrilling final. Foster, who has won eight medals previously in APP Men’s Pro singles, had to settle for the bronze this time.

On the Women’s side, Simone Jardim, a former G.O.A.T. of the sport, secured her first gold medal of 2024 by overcoming Amanda Hendry in the final. Jardim’s victory marked just her second ever pro singles medal on the APP, showcasing her enduring talent and skill in the sport.

In the Mixed Pro Doubles category, Susannah Barr and Brandon Lane emerged victorious, while in the Men’s Pro Doubles, the veteran team of Rob Nunnery and Ryler DeHeart claimed the title. The Women’s Pro Doubles saw Allison Harris and Simone Jardim taking home the gold after a hard-fought final.

The event also featured competitions in the AARP Champions (Senior 50+) and AARP Masters (Super Senior 60+) categories, with notable performances from Rick Witsken, Dana Wiatroski, Lee Whitwell, and Jamie Oncins.

Overall, the 2024 APP Vlasic Classic – Cincinnati event showcased the competitive spirit and talent of pickleball players from across the country.
