“Big Give 2022 Raises Record $421,596 for New York Tech Students”

The seventh annual Big Give at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) was a huge success, breaking records with a total of $421,596 raised from 1,134 donors. This year’s donations mark the largest dollar outcome in the event’s seven-year history, bringing the total raised over the years to more than $2 million.

The fundraising campaign, which lasted about 33 hours in commemoration of NYIT’s founding in 1955, brought together the NYIT community to support the student experience at campuses in Long Island, New York City, Jonesboro, and Vancouver.

Leading up to the Big Give, NYITCOM hosted a series of pre-events at various campuses. The College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) held a pickleball tournament on the Long Island campus, while NYITCOM-Arkansas organized a Fit Physicians 5K and NYITCOM hosted a Fit Physicians Walk/Run on Long Island. The School of Architecture and Design also hosted a Big Give Pre-Party on Long Island.

On the first day of the Big Give, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered at kick-off parties at NYIT de Seversky Mansion on Long Island and The Empire Rooftop in New York City. Events included a cooking demonstration, a Big Give Benefit Night, and a virtual walk to New York at the Vancouver campus.

The following day, donors who made a gift at the Give Back tables on all campuses were entered into a raffle. Alumni also enjoyed an event at X-Golf Westbury on Long Island, where a $19.55 donation included access to the golf simulator, food, and Big Give-branded socks.

Patrick Minson, Ed.D., vice president for development, alumni relations, and external affairs at NYIT, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends. The success of this year’s Big Give will benefit NYIT students and programs, thanks to the generosity of the NYIT community.
