Pulaski County Announces Plans for New Sportsplex Opening in 2026
The Pulaski County Sportsplex: A Game-Changer for Sports Tourism
Exciting news for sports enthusiasts in Pulaski County and beyond as plans for a state-of-the-art recreational facility were unveiled on Saturday, March 29. The Pulaski County Sportsplex is set to open its doors in 2026 and promises to be the largest indoor versatile sports, exposition, and entertainment center in the state.
According to county officials, the Sportsplex will feature two indoor turf soccer fields, 26 pickleball courts, two tracks, and eight mixed-use courts for basketball, volleyball, and futsal. Additionally, there will be a weight room, a restaurant, golf facilities, and more, all housed within a massive 165,000 square foot building.
Laura Walters, chair of the Board of Supervisors, expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “This project has been a dream of our community for so very long, and it was absolutely amazing to share with our citizens the details of how we plan to convert this discontinued manufacturing facility the County owns into one of the most meaningful assets a local government can provide its citizenry.”
The Pulaski County Sportsplex is part of a larger strategy by the county to boost sports tourism in the region. Previous acquisitions of the Pulaski County Motorsports Park and Calfee Park, home of the Pulaski River Turtles baseball team, have laid the groundwork for this ambitious project.
Walters emphasized that the Sportsplex will cater to individuals of all ages and interests, making it both affordable and sustainable for the community. She also highlighted the economic benefits that the facility is expected to bring, stating, “The enterprising approach will not only make it affordable and sustainable for our citizens but will fuel direct and indirect revenues by way of our hospitality and services industry sectors.”
With the Pulaski County Sportsplex on the horizon, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a new hub for sports, recreation, and entertainment that promises to put Pulaski County on the map as a premier destination for sports tourism.
