Proposal to Add Pickleball Courts and Youth Soccer Field at South Napa Century Center Heading to Planning Commission

The South Napa Century Center may soon see some exciting new additions, as a proposal to add four pickleball courts and a youth soccer field is set to go before the city’s Planning Commission. The Peter A. & Vernice H. Gasser Foundation, a local nonprofit known for its community contributions, is behind the plan to build these recreational amenities on two vacant parcels near the Cinemark Century Napa Valley movie theater.

The proposed pickleball courts would occupy a 15,893-square-foot lot, while the youth soccer field would be located on a 17,776-square-foot parcel. The soccer field, operated by the Napa United Soccer Club, would host practices for young players five nights a week, with LED lights designed to minimize glare onto surrounding streets.

This proposal comes at a time when the city is facing increasing demand for recreational space and dedicated pickleball courts. While officials are exploring other potential sites for sports fields, including the former Harvest Middle School campus, no immediate solution has been found.

If approved, these new amenities would provide much-needed space for community sports and activities. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development.
