The first ever Professional Pickleball Association Milwaukee Open is in full swing at the Baird Center, with over 900 players competing in the tournament. The event, which began on November 14th, has attracted both amateur and professional players of all ages and skill levels.

Professional pickler Julian Arnold emphasized the accessibility of the sport, stating that anyone can pick up a paddle and have fun playing pickleball. Kate Fahey, who only started playing pickleball a year ago, is now competing at the professional level and is set to play in the women’s championship round on Sunday.

Amateur players Patrick Diehr and Noah Dehli were surprised by the size of the tournament, noting the number of people who have traveled to compete and watch. Pro player director Dillion Segur highlighted the strong connections players make with each other both on and off the court, describing them as once in a lifetime.

With over 4,100 attendees so far, the Milwaukee Open has been a hit with pickleball enthusiasts. The championship rounds on Sunday are expected to draw even more spectators as players compete for the title. The tournament showcases the growing popularity and excitement surrounding the sport of pickleball.
