Portage la Prairie schools are starting the new academic year with several facility upgrades and staffing additions. Major construction at Portage Collegiate includes renovating washrooms into inclusive stalls and expanding vocational learning with a new hairstyling lab funded by a provincial grant. Other improvements across the division include technology and security upgrades at Fort la Reine and La Verendrye schools, fencing enhancements, and washroom refurbishments at multiple schools. Crescentview is adding a new basketball/pickleball court thanks to community fundraising and grants, while Oakville’s gym floor has been replaced.

On the staffing front, approximately 14 new professional staff members have been hired, along with educational assistants and bus drivers. Staff return on September 2 for professional development, with a teacher meet-and-greet for parents and students scheduled for September 3, followed by the first day of classes on September 4. Parents are encouraged to review bus schedules and contact the Operations Department for shuttle bus registration and information.
