Pickleball Yorkton Youth Camp Sees Surge in Participation and Plans for Expansion

Posted In:

Pickleball Yorkton recently hosted a highly popular three-day youth camp called the “Little Picklers” program, attracting 19 participants aged 10 to 14. The camp aimed to introduce young players to pickleball, a sport growing in local popularity, partly due to its inclusion in school physical education classes. Club president Gina Resler expressed surprise at the overwhelming demand, which led to overbooking, and highlighted the camp’s focus on teaching basic skills to beginners.

The club is expanding its facilities with new outdoor courts at Heritage Heights and utilizes various indoor venues during colder months, though indoor court availability remains limited amid 200 active members. Looking ahead, Pickleball Yorkton plans to enhance youth engagement by potentially organizing youth-only tournaments to foster competitive play and skill development, reflecting the sport’s rising enthusiasm among local children.
