Bermuda Pickleball Team Selected for World Cup in Lima, Peru
The Pickleball Association of Bermuda has announced the team that will represent the island at the upcoming Pickleball World Cup in Lima, Peru. The team includes players from various divisions, including Open Elite Men, Open Elite Women, Junior, and Senior divisions. The team will compete against 27 nations in the elite division and 16 in the senior division, showcasing Bermuda’s talent on the international stage.
Funding for the Open Elite Team is provided through the Sports Investment Programme, while other team members have raised their own funds or are self-funded. National director of pickleball, Gavin Manders, expressed excitement about the opportunity for Bermuda to participate in the World Cup and highlighted the importance of building competitive pickleball teams for the future.
Selection for the World Cup team was based on players’ performances in international and local tournaments, their Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating, and results from national trials. The team is gearing up to compete against top nations like the United States, Brazil, and China, as well as regional counterparts like the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.
