Franklin Pickleball Players Fundraise for Court Lights at Youngs Creek Park
Franklin Pickleball Players to See the Light with New Court Lighting Project
Franklin pickleball players are in for a bright future as the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council plans to install lights on the pickleball courts at Youngs Creek Park. The approximately $150,000 project aims to provide extended playing hours for the growing number of pickleball enthusiasts in the community.
To raise funds for the project, the council is organizing a pickleball tournament on Sunday, with a $30 per pair entrance fee. The tournament will feature two age divisions and is open for spectators to watch for free. The council is also exploring grant opportunities and seeking support from the city to make the project a reality.
Marnie Moore, president of the youth leadership council, highlighted the importance of making pickleball more accessible to all ages in the community. The sport has gained popularity in recent years, bringing people of all backgrounds together to play and have fun.
The council’s focus on pickleball as their annual project reflects the sport’s impact on the community and the need for additional court facilities. With the support of local businesses and grants, the council hopes to complete the project by the end of the school year.
For Moore and her peers on the council, the project represents an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the community and see the results of their efforts firsthand. The installation of lights on the pickleball courts will not only enhance the playing experience but also promote community engagement and physical activity.
Registration for the pickleball fundraiser closes today, so interested participants can sign up at shorturl.at/AGV2V. The council’s initiative to improve the pickleball facilities in Franklin demonstrates their commitment to creating a vibrant and inclusive community for all residents.
