Fourth Annual Rally in the Valley Pickleball Tournament Draws Players from Across the Country
The fourth annual Rally in the Valley pickleball tournament is set to bring together more than 200 players from Colorado and 10 other states for a weekend of intense competition at Salida’s Centennial Park. The event, hosted by the Peak to Peak Pickleball Club, will feature women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles matches from September 6-8, with play starting at 8 a.m. each day.
Peak to Peak Pickleball Club, which has over 450 members, is dedicated to promoting and facilitating pickleball in Chaffee County. The club has worked with the City of Salida and the Town of Buena Vista to build multiple pickleball courts in the area, with plans for more in the future.
The tournament is made possible by the support of 28 sponsors, including executive sponsor Mariner Wealth Advisors and platinum sponsors Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, Janine Marr at HomeSmart Preferred Realty, and more. The event is organized by over 50 club volunteers who are passionate about growing the sport of pickleball in the community.
Pickleball, a hybrid sport created in 1965, has quickly become one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. with millions of players nationwide. Advocates for the sport, known as Pickleheads, are hopeful for its inclusion in future Olympic Games, with eyes set on the 2032 Games in Brisbane, Australia.
The Rally in the Valley tournament promises to be a thrilling event for players and spectators alike, showcasing the growing popularity and competitive spirit of pickleball in the region.
