The City of Fort St. John and the Peace Country Pickleball Association will host National Pickleball Day on August 9, 2025, at the Kin Park pickleball courts. This free, drop-in event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will feature two hours of instruction followed by open play, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels. Participants are encouraged to bring their own paddles, though spare equipment will be available, and local association members will provide guidance and support to help beginners build confidence and learn basic skills.
Pickleball has rapidly grown in popularity across Canada, with a 2025 survey showing a 57% increase in players over the past three years, now totaling about 1.54 million. The sport’s accessibility and social nature contribute to its appeal. Events like Peace Country Pickleball Day aim to foster community engagement, introduce newcomers to the game, and support the continued expansion of local pickleball programs.
