Visit Overland Park and the Association of Pickleball Players (APP) have signed a five-year agreement to host an annual APP Tour stop, the APP Overland Park Open, beginning in September 2026 at AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk. This event will be one of 12 national stops on the APP Tour, featuring professional and amateur singles, doubles, and mixed play, along with clinics and community activities. The tournament is expected to attract around 200 professional athletes and 1,000 amateur players nationwide, building on the success of previous similar events in Overland Park that generated over $1 million in direct economic impact.

The partnership highlights Overland Park’s growing reputation as a premier sports destination, with local officials emphasizing the event’s benefits for tourism, economic growth, and community engagement. APP officials expressed enthusiasm about bringing multiple world-class pickleball events to the city, including professional, rising star, and collegiate competitions. The collaboration reflects Visit Overland Park’s commitment to leveraging its purpose-built facilities and hospitality to host major sporting events that enhance the city’s appeal as a place to visit, live, and work.
