Successful Orcas Island Rotary Pickleball Tournament Raises $12,000 and Celebrates Winners
The Orcas Island Rotary Pickleball Tournament was a smashing success, raising $12,000 for the Orcas community. The tournament, now in its seventh year at Buck Park, saw 62 players from Orcas, San Juan, Lopez islands, Oahu, and the mainland compete in various categories such as mixed doubles, women’s doubles, and men’s doubles.
The proceeds from the tournament will be donated to several community organizations including the Orcas Island Community Resource Center, Music Advocacy Group, the Pea Patch Community Campus, and the Orcas Island Pickleball Club. Winners of the tournament received pickle jar trophies, with pickles donated by Island Market.
The event also featured a BBQ in the park, a prize raffle to support the Orcas Island Pickleball Club, and a moment of silence to honor the late John Kelly, a beloved member of the pickleball community who passed away in July.
The success of the tournament was made possible by the generous support of community sponsors and in-kind donations. The Orcas Island Rotary Pickleball Club, which organized the event, is committed to supporting a fun and fair pickleball community where everyone can play.
Next year’s tournament is already scheduled for the weekend of August 16-17, 2025. Mark your calendars and join in on the fun and support a great cause!
