NFL Stars Take on Fans in Pickleball Charity Tournament at Tipsy Pickle

The NFL quarterbacks Drake Maye and Sam Howell recently traded in their footballs for pickleball paddles at a charity tournament in Charlotte. The event, dubbed “Beat an NFL QB,” allowed fans to challenge the former UNC standouts in head-to-head pickleball matches while raising funds for local health organizations.

Maye, a rookie with the Patriots known for his pickleball prowess, showcased his skills on the court, dominating rallies and impressing fans. Howell, now with the Seahawks, admitted he was at a disadvantage compared to his former teammate.

Fans of all skill levels lined up for the chance to take on an NFL quarterback in a game of pickleball, creating an electric atmosphere at Tipsy Pickle. The event not only provided competitive matchups but also raised money for three Charlotte-based health organizations, including the Katie Blessing Foundation, Agnes Weisiger Breast Health Center at Novant, and the Go Jen Go Foundation.

In addition to the tournament play, attendees had the opportunity to bid on exclusive sports memorabilia, such as signed jerseys from Peyton and Eli Manning, with the proceeds further supporting the cause.

This event highlights the growing role of pickleball in sports charity events, showcasing how athletes like Maye and Howell can use their platform to engage with fans and give back to the community. As pickleball continues to gain popularity, it serves as a unique and accessible way for athletes to support important causes while having fun on the court.
