National Mall of Pickleball 2024: Intergenerational Pickleball Event on the National Mall
The National Mall of Pickleball is gearing up for its second annual event, set to bring more than 250 hours of pickleball action to the iconic National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event, scheduled for September 27th through September 29th, will feature the finalists of America’s first-ever “Ultimate Duo” search, celebrating intergenerational relationships and active lifestyles.
The event, organized by The Trust for the National Mall and Humana, will take place on eleven temporary courts set up near the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The theme for this year’s event is “One for the Ages,” highlighting the importance of multiple generations playing together and forming new friendships through the sport of pickleball.
Court reservations for the event will go live on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 12:00pm EST. Last year’s event saw overwhelming demand, with advance court reservations filling up within two minutes. To accommodate the interest, this year’s event will feature two additional courts, with half of the courts available for advance reservations.
In addition to pickleball action on the courts, the event will also feature a variety of programming for spectators, including the Media Match tournament, the DMV Invitational Tournament, and the DCPT Showcase. New additions for 2024 include the Pickle Madness competition and the Knock Out game.
Six pairs of intergenerational finalists from across the U.S. will compete in the Ultimate Duo Challenge, with the winners being named the National Mall of Pickleball’s first-ever Ultimate Duo. The event aims to celebrate the impact of pickleball on fostering healthy relationships and active living across generations.
