New Indoor Pickleball Club Opens in Cockeysville, Maryland

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — Pickleball, the low impact, paddleball sport that’s drawing people of all ages, has taken Baltimore County by storm with the opening of a new indoor pickleball club called Dill Dinkers in Cockeysville.

Pickleball enthusiasts like Jenna Lessans from Owings Mills are flocking to the new club, which features six cushioned courts in a climate-controlled building. Lessans, a stay-at-home mom, was thrilled to have another place to play and ended up staying for over an hour.

Owner Steve Ator, a recent convert to the sport himself, says that pickleball is beginner-friendly and easy to learn. With demo paddles available for new players, getting started is not expensive.

Ator, a Towson University alum and former multi-sport athlete, decided to open the first Dill Dinkers franchise in Baltimore County after discovering the growing popularity of pickleball. The franchise, founded by Will and Denise Richards in 2023 in Columbia, now boasts 65 locations nationwide.

The club offers open play where players can be paired with a partner or reserve courts in advance. For more information, visit dilldinkers.com.

With more than 500 people hitting the courts during the opening weekend, Dill Dinkers is proving to be a hit among pickleball enthusiasts in the area. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, Dill Dinkers offers a fun and social environment for all ages to enjoy the hottest sport in the country.
