Nagaland made its debut in India’s competitive pickleball scene by successfully hosting the 1st Nagaland Pickleball Open, a PWR 50 sanctioned event, at Aiko Greens, Dimapur. Organized by the Nagaland Pickleball Association in collaboration with the Indian Pickleball Association, the tournament featured 32 teams from Nagaland and neighboring states competing in Men’s Doubles Open and Mixed Doubles categories. The event drew enthusiastic spectators and highlighted the region’s growing talent and interest in pickleball, earning national recognition and positioning Nagaland prominently on the country’s pickleball map.
The tournament’s success was credited to strong collaboration, including support from the Assam Pickleball Association and the professional coordination by Tournament Director Dilip Mohanty. Winners in the Men’s Doubles Open were Megotsolie Khate and Vilasier Khate, while Dilip Mohanty and Nazneen Rahman won the Mixed Doubles category. The Nagaland Pickleball Association expressed its commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive pickleball community in the state, marking the event as a significant milestone for the sport’s growth in Northeast India.
