Mount Carmel to Open First Pickleball Courts by September, Boosting Park and Local Business

Posted In:

Mount Carmel is set to open its first pickleball courts by the end of September as part of a larger city park upgrade. This initiative follows a local Parks and Recreation Fund study that identified pickleball as the top community priority. The new courts will be located adjacent to the existing basketball courts, with resurfacing underway to prepare the area for play. The park has already seen increased visitor interest due to recent additions like a disc golf course and updated playground equipment, with anticipation for the pickleball courts further boosting enthusiasm.

The growing regional interest in pickleball is evident, with nearby towns such as Rogersville and Church Hill also recently adding courts, drawing significant participation in local tournaments. Mayor John Gibson believes the new Mount Carmel courts will attract visitors from outside the city, potentially benefiting local businesses and contributing to the town’s economic vitality. This project reflects a broader trend of expanding pickleball facilities to meet rising demand and enhance community recreational offerings.
