Fundraising Campaign Surpasses Halfway Point for Meijer Sports Complex Expansion

The fundraising campaign for an $11 million expansion of the Meijer Sports Complex near Rockford has reached a significant milestone, with over half of the goal already achieved. The West Michigan Sports Commission announced that the Winning Streak for West Michigan capital campaign has raised $5.8 million, thanks in part to a generous $1 million gift from Meijer Inc. that inspired other major donors to contribute.

The expansion project will include a new championship softball field, three flexible-use diamond fields, 20 pickleball courts, a new concession building, playground area, canopies over bleachers, and more. Construction is set to begin this fall with the funds raised so far, and will continue into next year as additional funds come in.

Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes expressed the company’s commitment to supporting youth and amateur sports in West Michigan, stating that they are honored to help the Meijer Sports Complex provide a safe place for young people to play. Other donors who pledged in response to Meijer’s gift include the Secchia Family Foundation, DeVos Family Foundation, and more.

The expansion will allow the Meijer Sports Complex to accommodate more teams annually and generate additional visitor spending, further solidifying its impact on the local community. With the support of Meijer and other donors, the project is well on its way to completion, bringing enhanced sports facilities to the region.
