Major Sponsors Announced for BPIT 2024: Driving Pickleball Growth in Sarawak
The Kuching Pickleball Association (KPA) has made a major announcement that is set to drive the growth of pickleball in Sarawak. The Borneo Pickleball International Tournament (BPIT) 2024, Malaysia’s largest pickleball event, is gearing up to take place from 8–14 October at PIKABOL, Asia’s largest purpose-built indoor pickleball court in Kuching.
The event has garnered strong support from various sponsors and partners, showcasing the increasing popularity of pickleball in the region. Gold Sponsor Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) leads the pack, with Silver Sponsors including WTK Holdings Sendirian Berhad, Sarawak Energy Berhad, Skechers, and PIKABOL. Bronze Sponsors include Odysportsz, Decor Hauz Interior, and Starbucks. Official partners for the event include Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), The Hills Kuching, Dayak Daily, CPH Travel and Tours, Hemisphere Corporation, Malaysia Airlines, and the Sarawak Tourism Board.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, commended the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of innovative partnerships in developing sports in the region. The tournament not only focuses on sports but also highlights community outreach through the “Books Build Legacy” book donation drive, aiming to collect 2,000 children’s books for rural schools in Sarawak.
Ruslan Bujang, President of the Kuching Pickleball Association, expressed the shared vision of the sponsors and partners in growing the sporting community and nurturing athletes. The BPIT 2024 is expected to draw 1,500 spectators and 500 players competing for a prize pool of RM20,000 across various categories.
Registration for the tournament is open until 31 August 2024, with participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and the Philippines already signed up. Interested teams and individuals can register for a Pickleball Global ID on the official website and stay updated on tournament news through the Borneo Pickleball Facebook page.
