Duo Celebrates Gold Victory in Mixed Doubles Open 50+ at English Nationals
In a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship, the duo of Linton and Love emerged victorious in the Mixed Doubles Open 50+ category at the English Nationals pickleball tournament. Their hard-fought battle culminated in a final match against friends Julie Mac and David Youngs, where they clinched the gold medal with sheer determination and talent.
Reflecting on their journey to success, Love expressed their gratitude towards their opponents for pushing them to their limits. “We worked really hard to get here and to play as well as we did today is great,” Love said. “We’ve had really tough opponents all the way through today.”
The camaraderie between the players was evident as Linton shared, “It’s lovely to play David and Judy in the final, he got us into the sport and it was quite nice to beat him!” The competitive spirit and mutual respect among the players added an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
