Lil Wayne Joins Texas Ranchers Major League Pickleball Ownership Group
Pickleball is taking the sports world by storm, and now hip hop icon Lil Wayne is getting in on the action. The GRAMMY Award-winning artist has joined the Texas Ranchers’ ownership group as a strategic advisor, according to a recent news release.
In a statement, Lil Wayne expressed his excitement about joining the ownership group, stating, “Pickleball is the moment and I’m excited to be part of the Texas Ranchers ownership group. I’ve enjoyed watching and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join this team of owners.”
As part of his role, Lil Wayne will help increase national and local interest in the sport, as well as collaborate on creative strategy for apparel design and other initiatives.
Evan Floersch, CEO of the Texas Ranchers, expressed his enthusiasm about having Lil Wayne on board, stating, “We’re so excited to have Lil Wayne on board. Lil Wayne is not the only celebrity getting involved in the Pickleball space. Naomi Osaka, Lebron James, and Draymond Green have also invested in a new Major League Pickleball team, with Maverick Carter, James’ business partner, reportedly rounding out the team of investors.
Carter expressed his excitement about the sport, stating, “When I started playing pickleball, I immediately connected with the sport’s community and its capacity to be both fun and competitive. To see the sport growing in communities all over is really exciting, and we’re looking forward to bringing our expertise together to try and build a championship team.”
