Komodo Pickleball, based in Grand Junction, Colorado, has introduced the BioBall, an innovative eco-friendly pickleball that biodegrades in landfills within three to five years—significantly faster than traditional plastic balls that can persist for over a century. Founded by Dave Milo, the company developed the BioBall using rotomolding technology to create a durable ball lasting up to 60 matches, suitable for various climates and elevations. This product addresses the growing environmental concern as pickleball’s popularity surges nationwide, with millions of plastic balls discarded annually, contributing to substantial landfill waste.
Since its launch in November 2024, the BioBall has received positive feedback from players and clubs, particularly in Colorado, where it is praised for sustainability and performance, including suitability for high-altitude play. The ball is now available in the U.S. and internationally, with Komodo Pickleball aiming to inspire the pickleball community to consider the environmental impact of their equipment while enjoying the sport.
